The New Patriotic Party’s running mate for the 2008 elections has begun what seems to be a campaign to rally support to get selected as Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate for a second time.
Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has been on a tour of selected areas in the Northern region including his hometown Walewale which rejected the NPP in the last general elections.
Key party members who accompanied him will not confirm or deny to Joy News his intention was to campaign for the position but say Dr. Bawumia is only using his trips to engage with party faithful, especially the youth.
National youth organizer of the NPP Anthony Karbo who was on the tour told Joy News the response is shocking.
“The party is determined to win back all the seats that we have lost, encouraging people to see the difference between the two parties and make a choice. So Dr [Bawumia] has only been encouraging the foot soldiers, the youth of the party to have a lot confidence in Nana Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the party.”
