Acting governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Henry kofi Wampah has been confirmed as head of the Central Bank.
Joy Business has learnt that the affirmation was done last week by President John Mahama.
Sources say Dr. Wampah is excepted to serve as governor for the next four years.
Dr. Wampah took over of the central bank in acting capacity last year after his immediate boss Kwesi Amissah-Arthur was confirmed by Parliament as Vice President.
He was chosen as first deputy governor of the central bank of Ghana in April 2009.
Prior to his appointment at the bank, Dr. Wampah was the Director of the Research and Statistics Department at the West African Monetary Institute.
He also worked as the Head of the Research Department of Bank of Ghana from February 1996 to February 2001, as well as working with the International Monetary Fund.
Dr Wampah holds a Masters Degree and a Ph.D in Economics from McGill University, Montreal CANADA.
Meanwhile Joy Business has learnt a new first deputy governor will soon be appointed to complete the three top positions at the Bank.
Millision Narh is currently the second deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana.
