On Sunday, 13 April 2025, the International Kingdom University (Florida) honoured a select group of outstanding individuals for their inspiring lives, exemplary leadership, and immense contributions to society.
The well-attended ceremony took place at the Executive Community Church in Kasoa Opeikuma Junction, drawing dignitaries, decision-makers, and sympathisers from all walks of life.
Among the honourees was Mr Francis Ohemeng, who received an Honorary Doctorate in Executive Leadership.
Mr Ohemeng’s journey to becoming the revered Central Regional Administrator of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) is one defined by resilience, faith, and dedication.
Born in Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region to Mr Hanson Osei Nyantakyi, an accountant, and Madam Patience Boitey, a seamstress, Francis experienced financial hardship following his father's job loss.
The intervention of his aunt, Miss Mercy Yeboah—a Presbyterian teacher—who relocated him to Ashanti Mampong, marked a turning point in his life.
Her strict discipline, combined with his exposure to both traditional and Christian values, shaped his character and outlook.
Academically driven, he passed the Common Entrance Examination and progressed through St Andrews Experimental JSS, Amaniampong Senior Secondary School, and Kumasi High School.
After completing his secondary education with impressive grades, he joined a private cocoa buying company before being recruited into the Ghana National Fire Service.
His diligence earned him a place in the National Ambulance Service, then in its formative stages, where he became one of the first trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Ghana and West Africa.
Mr Ohemeng’s leadership has left an indelible mark on the Central Region. Upon assuming office as regional administrator, only two ambulances were operational.
Through his commitment and all-hands-on-deck approach, that number has increased to 26. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the regional dispatch centre.
His accessibility and humility have earned him admiration, while his mentoring and empowerment of others have made him a pillar in both his profession and community.
In addition to his work, Mr Ohemeng holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from KNUST, a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Valley View University, and an HND in Accountancy from Sunyani Technical University.
He is currently at the final level of qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG).
A devoted family man with a son and daughter, he continues to inspire many. Sources indicate he may soon be enstooled as a Sub-Chief of Agona Asamang—a well-earned honour.
Dr Francis Ohemeng attributes his success to God's grace, reflecting on how close he once came to losing hope. His life remains a testimony of perseverance, generosity, and purpose.
