There was melodrama at the state broadcaster on Sunday which delayed the television news at midday for 25 minutes.
Some TV news staff resisted efforts by the Deputy Director General, Anane Sarpong, to get Abigail Larbi, who is a radio presenter at GBC radio, to present the news.
Joy News sources at the state broadcaster say the Deputy Director General entered the GTV newsroom a few minutes before the news at 12 and demanded the scheduled newsreader be replaced by Abigail Larbi, a newsreader at GBC radio.
The decision resulted in fierce verbal exchanges between him and the editor-in-charge Titi Anepe, who insisted Barbara Gaizie presented the midday news.
Mr. Sarpong is reported to have threatened to sack the news editor if she flouted his order.
The Deputy Director General requested for assistance from security officers who intervened in the rift.
Mr Sarpong prevailed as Abigail Larbi was finally made to read the news.
