Love them or hate them, the vuvuzela became the underlying sound of the 2010 South African World Cup.
But what to do with them all now? A competition was held in South Africa to recycle vuvuzelas following the tournament.
Suggestions included tables, lamps, and even toilet paper holders.
The winner was a pair of hoop earrings.
