The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum has resigned from President Akufo-Addo’s government.
His resignation is with immediate effect.
A press release from the Presidency issued on Friday, February 3, and signed by the Communications Director, Eugene Arhin has said.
According to the said release, President Akufo-Addo has accepted his resignation and wished him well.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has accepted the resignation from office, with immediate effect, of Hon. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, the Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, as Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs,” excerpts of the statement said.
However, the reasons Mr Kojo Kum’s resignation was not stated in the statement but he has not been of good health recently.
It would be recalled that Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, who is Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, suffered a stroke in 2022.
“Kojo Kum suffered stroke but he is not dead…He is very well. About three weeks ago, he fell sick and was admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for two weeks until he got better and was discharged.
“Currently, he is home and getting better. As I speak to you, he can eat, talk and do everything as expected but he is still recovering,” the family’s lawyer, Joe Mensah stated to dispel rumours of his death.
Meanwhile, his resignation brings to three, the number of ministers who have resigned from the Akufo-Addo government in less than two months.
