My facebook friend Augusto d'Almeida asked his followers and friends to help themselves to his question; "Is Life totally meaningless?. We live. We die. So what's the point?"

I am not too sure which one makes him sad - life or death. Or which one he prefers life or death.

And when a comment or two on his timeline said they had been thinking about such questions, E-Lab picked up some suspicion that some people may need pointers to faith in God.

So this post is a crutch to those who need it. It is not to open the eyes of the blind. That cannot be my work. My work is to strengthen feeble hands.

E-lab can see no question more important to answer than this. Because leaving this Augusto's note about life unanswered, is how suicide bombers are created.

If life has no point, then the bomb has a point. And the 'Pray for France profile pictures' have no point.

E-lab has found that ours is a century in which a question appears far more important than an answer. A question is honoured as intelligent. Few donate necessary attention to find a place of honour for an answer.

I remember a king asked 'what is truth?' And before a man could answer him, the monarch walked away proud of his question- and his royal ignorance.

If you take Augusto's question and conclude that life has no point, this is what will happen.

"Murderers would be given medals for saving men from life; firemen would be denounced for keeping men from death; poisons would be used as medicines; doctors would be called in when people were well" - Chesterton.

One thing we must know about life or death is that there is nothing lively about life or deadly about death. The only thing which makes life lively or death deadly is the lovely quality of love.

Love is the only reason why life is meaningful and death is painful. It is the reason why we laugh or cry. That is why although Augusto may not like death, he is yet to protest his protein-rich soup because it has a dead goat in it.  And it is for the simple reason that we don't love goats.

So yes- love is the point. Love is the reason why we have an opinion about the whole point of life - or death.

But what is love? If we are convinced that love is a chemical secretion in the body that makes us emotionally attached to someone, then quite frankly, we have solved the world's problem.

Because all we have to do is to extract some of these chemicals, store it in a love bank like a blood bank and donate it to terrorist organisations to sedate them enough to love their enemies.

E-Lab understands the general weary of reading long articles. So let me be straight to the point - For the Christian, Love is God. Or put it more accurately - God is Love. And he demonstrated this through Jesus Christ.

This won't make atheist happy. But atheist face a very strange and unimaginable difficulty living a normal life on a daily basis while holding on to their disbelief.

He soon discovers that if he continued denying Christ, it becomes increasing difficult to celebrate his birthday - because dates are calculated on Christ.

He warns against indoctrinating children with religion only to prosecute un-indoctrinated lions for eating up the babies.

He is so logical and reasonable that he suddenly realises that he cannot say to a woman, ' I love you' because, love, [he would soon discover in a marriage] is unreasonable.

So he feels uncomfortable on his birthday, feels unhappy with savage lions and cannot propose to a woman.

So the question 'what is the point about life' is ultimately a question about the existence of God.

Some say a belief in God is escapist. That is an attempt to run away from the real task of life by hiding under a nebulous idea of God.

If anyone must take offense to this view, it is not a Christian. It is an architect. He is really being accused by the atheist of running away from the tough job of actual construction by choosing an easier option of virtual drawing.

There are more questions arising out of a belief in God. But this post does not pretend to answer all questions.

It is only to stress that the point about life is Love. The point about Love is God. And the point about God is Jesus Christ. Every of his motivation, every action, every move is anchored on love.

E-Lab has said before and is stressing again that with all due respect to every Christian sensibility on earth, if the parts of God’s body are to be identified, knowledge would be his butt, his backside.

His mind would prove to be empty of any knowledge. His mind is full of love. It is his butt that is full of knowledge. And when he excretes it, men find it and beat their chest, ‘I have no need of God. I have all the knowledge’.

No. You have in your head, God’s faecal matter.
