Dr Joshua Ayarkwa, the DCE and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ejura-Sekyedumase, has called on the people of the area to vote massively for the Party in the forthcoming elections in appreciation to government’s development efforts.
He said there was an unprecedented provision of projects for the area, spanning water and sanitation, roads, education, human resource development and electrification by the government within its seven year-period that must be appreciated and recommended at all levels.
Dr Ayarkwa, who is also the Ejura-Sekyedumase District Chief Executive (DCE), was addressing a meeting of communities surrounding Sekyedumasi, including Anyinasu, Dwaaho, Frante, Dumase, Nkranpo and Drobon.
The meeting discussed development of the area and evolved strategies to garner votes for the NPP in the elections.
Dr Ayarkwa emphasised that the area was developing rapidly through the good policies and programmes of the government, as well as good inter-personal relations among the people.
He urged the communities to participate in the various programmes to be embarked upon by the Electoral Commission this year, including the reopening of the voter register.
Dr Ayarkwa catalogued development projects that the area benefited from adding that 960 jobs were created in the district through the National Youth Employment Programme.
In addition, he said 600 acres of land had been cultivated and had yielded about 200 bags of maize under the Agriculture module of the programme.
Mr Osei Asibey Antwi, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, called on the people to vote for Dr Ayarkwa, adding that he had proven qualities to lead them and the NPP to victory
He said there was the need for natives resident in the cities to go back home and invest in the development of their towns.
Barima Antwi Boasiako II, chief of Sekyedumase advised the people to always focus on what would unite them, rather than what would divide them and that their priorities should relate to the development of the area.
