The Ho Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority, Charles Keesi Gomenu has counseled the youth to embrace Information Communications Technology (ICT) while on their educational journey.

This he asserted would make them fully equipped with the requisite resources to fit into the digital world and meet job demands.

“The book alone isn't enough to prepare you for tomorrow. Concentrate on your books alright but identify ICT as an equally important field and embrace it“ he said when speaking at the second edition of the Young and Loud festival held at the Mawuli School in Ho.

Mr. Gomenu lamented that the current human resources available in the country lack some basic ICT knowledge leading to a greater number of workers becoming redundant in their field of work, especially administration.

He further encouraged the youth to identify a digital skill and ensure they perfect that skill at a youthful age to make them proficient.

He added that this would give them an advantage in the job market.

“I know Node Eight has some courses there are running in ICT, take advantage of it and get training in any of them and acquire that skill. It will be of great help to you in the future”, he said.

The Managing Director of Node Eight, Courage Asase highlighted that it had become imperative for the youth to be provided some guidance identifying the challenges they face growing up.

He expressed optimism the Young and Loud Festival would also bridge the gap of young people being sidelined in contributing to local governance of the municipality, thereby providing them the platform to make inputs to decision-making.

The “Young and Wild” festival was organized by a consortium made up of Node Eight, Love Aid Foundation, Ghana Education Service, and Ho Municipal Assembly, under the initiative of the Young and Safe Project of Healthy Cities for Adolescents Initiative.

It is being implemented with a focus on creating an enabling environment to help young people to aspire to greater heights.

This year's edition featured a boot camp, career guidance, talent show and arts, dance, poetry and music competition. Chief One among other artistes climaxed the day with a thrilling performance.
