The Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Ghana, Daniel Kwadwo Owusu, has urged auditors to embrace technology since their roles are evolving, with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, amongst others.
According to him, audit and accounting professionals should acquire new skill sets such as data analytics and visualization and the understanding of AI model and testing to stand the test of time in this competitive era.
Speaking on the topic “The Future of Auditing: Emerging Trends and Technologies” at the 2025 Institute of Chartered Accountant, Ghana Annual Conference in Takoradi in the Western region, Mr. Owusu also called for strong ethical judgment by auditors and accountants in using automated tools.
“Embrace innovation, adapt to changes, meet timelines and execute quality audit, and also add higher value through insights”, Mr. Owusu urged the audit and accounting professionals present.
The emerging trend and technologies in audit and accounting has reduced the need for third party verification, amongst others.

He added that the evolution of technology has increased audit quality, reduced human time spent on repetitive tasks and provided real-time assurance that is faster identification of issues for timely responses.
However, there are teething challenges such as regulatory uncertainty and data security.
The 2025 Accountants’ Conference featured discussions on various topical issues including the role of professional accountants in the use of AI for efficient work performance.
