It was crafted in 2004 when Barclays became title sponsor of the FA Premier League. The trophy Rand arrived in the Ghanaian capital Accra on Saturday night under tight security and taken to a secret location.
The trophy tour is a partnership between Barclays Bank, DSTV Mobile, Multichoice and the EPL which also aims at rewarding African fans for their passionate and loyal patronage of the EPL.
The coalition of partners on Sunday paid a courtesy call on His Excellency John Dramani Mahama -Vice President of Ghana at the Castle and officially presented the trophy to him.
An ardent Manchester United supporter, the Vice President joked that he was just having a feel of the trophy before it returns to Manchester where he is confident another title would go this season.
