In order to close ranks and build a formidable team ahead of general elections in 2016, the Eastern Region branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced dissolution of all factions or groupings which supported individual candidates during the party's regional congresses.
Addressing the media during its maiden regional executive committee meeting in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mark-Oliver Kevor said the 2016 elections were crucial and called for a united front.
''The task ahead is so enormous for us to be entangled in our past. As we speak now the party in Atiwa West is in the Magistrate Court with the Electoral Commission [regarding] 54 registered minors and their parents which we are asking the court to expunge from the EC register. There is a lot of work to be done and we need to get focused. We have no excuse not to deliver'', he stressed.
The Regional Secretary further reached out to all party members especially those who lost in the just ended congress to contribute to the running of the NDC in the region.
''We have opened our arms to all who lost in this contest to come on board with their strength to see the common vision materialized'', Mr Klevor stated.
The party also seized the opportunity to extend its appreciation to the media, security and other stakeholders for their support.
Meanwhile, founding members of the NDC in the Eastern Region have in a statement signed by Mr.Amfo Ntiri and Alhaji Abu Mohammed congratulated the newly elected executives for coming out victorious in the just ended regional congress.
They called on them to consult them when necessary for advice.
