Tonight, we aim to forge this contract, rooted in mutual trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to building an environment where businesses thrive, governance is accountable, and growth benefits all.

1. The Social Contract Signing
   One of the most significant moments of this Gala will be the signing of a Social Contract by the NDC and NPP flag bearers. This contract symbolizes a public pledge to principles that foster economic growth, good governance, and political accountability. By affixing their signatures, our political leaders demonstrate their commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses and fulfilling their duty to all Ghanaians.
2. A Pact to End Galamsey
   Another critical focus of tonight’s discussions is the devastation caused by illegal mining, or galamsey. The environmental toll, economic disruption, and societal harm it has inflicted on our nation cannot be overstated. We will advocate for a bold and actionable pact to end galamsey, one that protects our environment and ensures the sustainability of our natural resources for future generations.

   We are privileged to hear from two of Ghana’s most influential leaders:

• H.E. John Dramani Mahama, former President of Ghana, will share his insights on “Reigniting Political and Business Collaboration: A Manifesto for Economic Growth, Accountability, and Sustainable Development.”
• H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President of Ghana, will speak on “Reigniting the Business Economy: A Manifesto for Innovation, Accountability, and Sustainable Development.” Both leaders bring unique perspectives, grounded in experience and vision, and we eagerly anticipate their contributions to this critical dialogue.

Five Strategic Recommendations for Business Governance

To complement this vision, I propose five critical strategies that will strengthen business governance and drive Ghana’s economic development:

1. Establish a Permanent Business Advisory Council
   A Permanent Business Advisory Council must be created to provide regular, structured policy feedback to the government. This council will serve as a bridge between the private sector and political leadership, ensuring that business voices remain integral to policymaking.
2. Revamp the Business Regulatory Environment
   The regulatory environment in Ghana requires a comprehensive overhaul. Simplifying processes and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks will attract investment, foster innovation, and empower local enterprises.
3. Promote Political Accountability through Governance Mechanisms
   Transparent governance is non-negotiable. We must institutionalize mechanisms that hold political leaders accountable, ensuring that campaign promises translate into tangible results. Regular public-private dialogues will help assess the impact of government policies on businesses.
4. Strengthen the Digital Economy Ecosystem
   Technology is the future. To remain competitive in the global market, Ghana must invest heavily in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and workforce development. The digital economy is not just an enabler—it is the cornerstone of modern business growth.
5. Leverage Data for Evidence-Based Policymaking
   Decisions must be guided by robust research and reliable data. Evidence-based policymaking will enable us to respond effectively to economic challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
