Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has been selected for Real Madrid’s Champions League game against Manchester City.
The 27-year-old was named in a provisional 20-man squad to face the English champions on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This means the former Olympique Lyon player who is on-loan from Chelsea could be making his Real Madrid debut against The Citizens after completing his transfer deadline day switch.
Essien was an unused substitute in Los Blancos’ disappointing defeat to Seville last Saturday.
Comments made by manager Jose Mourinho following that defeat suggests he could be making changes to his starting lineup which could be in favour of the Ghana international.
Essien is looking to regain his spark which earned him the reputation of one of the finest midfielders of his kind in World football.
