Atadika’s chocolate journey has been different from your typical cocoa-dusted path. Born in Ghana but raised in New York, she envisioned a doctor’s coat, not a chef’s apron. Yet, the call of food simmered beneath the surface, eventually leading her to trade pre-med for geography and environmental studies at Dartmouth. Culinary school beckoned, but familial reservations put that dream on hold.
Fate, however, had other plans. A successful career with the United Nations took Atadika across Africa, where she witnessed firsthand the unifying power of food using chocolate. In Senegal, a passion project with two friends blossomed into a wildly popular pop-up restaurant – the seed was sown.
In 2014, Atadika took a leap of faith. Leaving the UN behind, she returned to Ghana and embraced her culinary calling. Midunu, meaning “Come Let’s Eat” in Twi, was born. It wasn’t just a company but a mission to celebrate Africa’s vibrant flavors through handcrafted chocolates infused with exotic West African spices like the beloved prekese.

Midunu’s truffles are more than just sweet treats; they’re edible journeys. Each bite transports you to bustling Moroccan markets with hints of mint tea or evokes the warmth of Ethiopian kitchens with a touch of berbere spice.
Atadika’s chocolates aren’t just delicious; they’re cultural ambassadors, bridging the gap between continents and igniting conversations through the universal language of taste.

Today, Midunu is an award-winning enterprise, gracing the shelves of gourmet stores and charming palates worldwide. Atadika’s story is a testament to the power of following your passions, no matter how unconventional the path.

It’s a story steeped in heritage, sprinkled with a pinch of adventure, and wrapped in the irresistible allure of African chocolate. So, the next time you reach for a Midunu truffle, remember, you’re not just indulging in a sweet treat; you’re savoring a story, a culture, and a love letter to the continent that brings us together, one delicious bite at a time.
