Family of 24-year-old motorbike mechanic, Kwabena Aberimi, who was shot and killed by police at Odomase in the Sunyani West District of the Bono Ahafo Region is asking for compensation.
According to a family spokesperson, Gordon Asanga, the deceased was taking care of his aged parents, his sister who is in the Senior High School, and a 4-year-old girl.
The family says the death of Kwabena Aberimi will adversely affect the survival of his dependants.
Gordon Asanga says although the family is waiting for an autopsy report and findings of an investigation from the police, they are convinced their son was innocent.
Police have agreed to pay for the cost of the funeral expenses for the deceased, but the family says that would not be enough.
Kuuku Abban of Sky FM reports that since the chasing away of the Deputy Regional Minister and his entourage by youth of the area in reaction the shooting incident, the police have not been carrying out their routine patrols in the area.
Odomase has no police post hence the routine patrols helped them to maintain their presence in the area.
