Ace Ghanaian movie actor and producer, Bob Smith Junior popularly known as ‘Diabolo man’ has disclosed that filmmakers in Ghana only meet at funerals grounds to take decision for the industry.

This according to him is because they do not have an office to hold their meetings which he says is adversely affecting the movie industry.

He made this revelation to Adom Entertainment News at the funeral ceremony of the late President of the Ghana Actors Guild. Nii Odoi Mensah passed away in China after battling kidney disorders for some time.

The ‘Diabolo’ movie maker explained that they used to meet at the premises of the old Ghana Film Industry Corporation (GFIC). However, they have now been left stranded after the edifice built by Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to promote the movies industry was sold.

Bob Smith Junior further explained that his colleague actor, Kojo Dadson of ‘Home Sweet Home, fame gave them his house as a temporary place for meeting but they were forced to stop using the place after he (Kojo Dadson) was struck by stroke.

He, therefore, appealed to President Mahama to as a matter of urgency come to their aid just as he assisted the family of the late Odoi Mensah in his burial.

But reacting to the issue, the Public Relations Manager for the Film Producers Association of Ghana, (FIPAG), Michael Ola debunked Bob Smith Junior’s claim that they have no office to hold their meeting.

According to him, FIPAG currently has three offices nationwide and they are working tirelessly to open more office to making their operations more effective.

‘We have an office in Accra, Kumasi, Bolgatanga and they are almost finishing another one at Tamale’ he said.

The controversial movie maker raised doubts about why Bob Smith Jnr. came public to make such an untrue claim.

‘He might have been influenced by excessive intake of alcohol since he was mourning his late friend, Nii Odoi Mensah’ he opined.
