The Central Regional Minister, Ms Ama Benyiwa doe, last week had her residence grazed by fire.
The fire gutted her residence and destroyed her wardrobe, curtains and other items. Coming as the first of government buildings to catch fire in the region after the four that got burnt in Accra over the last 10 months, tongues are wagging and minds are wondering whether the state property infernos are spreading to the regions.
The Central regional public relations officer, Ike Afenyi Donkor, briefed the media over the weekend about the incident, which took place on Wednesday.
According to Mr Donkor, although the fire had destroyed the residence, “the minister was still poised to work for the region.”
He said she was not perturbed by the incident but had resolved to give of her best for the betterment of the region.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty air-conditioner attached to the residence of the minister and put out by personnel of the National Fire Service when workers’ attempt to douse it failed.
