Fire has gutted a three-bedroom apartment at Kokomlemle in Accra.
The owners of the house suspect the fire was started when someone tried to prepare a meal with a faulty LPG cylinder.
One of the victims of the fire Evans Azagloh said although he tried to rescue his items the inferno scared him off.
“I realized the scent of the gas and the flame coming out so I just went into to the kitchen. So I saw the fire coming out of the cylinder and the stove too…I tried to take off the regulator from the cylinder. I tried, I couldn't, the fire [scared] me,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fire Officer David Ofori, who led a team of fire service personnel to put out the fire, says the incident could have been avoided.
“I’ll advise the public that in case there is an outbreak of fire, they should try and call fire service first,” he indicated.
