The death of the flag bearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, has evoked some memorable moments of her life.
Akua Donkor whose political career began as an Assemblywoman for Hemang in the Ashanti Region, always tinged the charged political atmosphere with humour.
Her speeches and commentaries always tickled the humour buds of the people.
Throughout her political journey, she distinguished herself by running for the presidency multiple times, demonstrating remarkable resilience despite financial challenges.
Although her first attempt in 2012 as an independent candidate and a subsequent one in 2016 proved unsuccessful, she met the eligibility requirements of the Electoral Commission and got featured in the 2020 election.
With just 39 days to the 2024 election, Akua Donkor had been promising policies like free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, and improved remuneration for farmers.
The recent highlight of her 2024 presidential campaign was when she appointed Roman Fada, the manager for highlife musician Daddy Lumba and a broadcaster at Atinka FM, as her running mate.
