The Volta Regional Minister has entreated newly appointed Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region, to be abreast with the Local Government Act, (Act 936).
Dr. Yao Archibald Letsa speaking at the ceremony to officially swear the 16 out of 25 Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMCE) into office Monday.
He said the new MMCEs can only meet the expectations of the people who elected them if they do well to follow the principles governing their positions and to always endeavour to make informed decisions.
Act 936 gives Local Authorities and District Assemblies greater scope and autonomy in the management of local matters. The Act also provides a clear accountability framework, to ensure that the activities of the Local Authorities reflect the wishes of the people they serve.

"A bad decision hastily taken today, although for a good course may come to hunt you in a few months or years’ time," the Minister told the newly sworn-in Chief Executives.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Maxwell Blagogee charged the new MDCEs to ensure they serve the people in truth and in loyalty to the government.
He urged them to be humble and make themselves accessible to their people.
The DCE for North Dayi, Edmond Kodzo Atta who spoke on behalf of his colleagues thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them and promised to make sure that development is brought to their respective districts.
Mr Atta also said they will work with the assembly members and chiefs so as to bring unity in the districts.
Present at the ceremony included the officials of the governing New PAtriotic Party (NPP) and other government officials.
