The Volta Regional Minister has entreated newly appointed Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region, to be abreast with the Local Government Act, (Act 936).
Dr. Yao Archibald Letsa speaking at the ceremony to officially swear the 16 out of 25 Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMCE) into office Monday.
He said the new MMCEs can only meet the expectations of the people who elected them if they do well to follow the principles governing their positions and to always endeavour to make informed decisions.
Act 936 gives Local Authorities and District Assemblies greater scope and autonomy in the management of local matters. The Act also provides a clear accountability framework, to ensure that the activities of the Local Authorities reflect the wishes of the people they serve.
