At least four officials of the St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia accused of backdating the salaries of some staff of the hospital are due to appear before an investigative committee.

The four; Yaw Opoku Agyei, Emmanuel Amanie, Samuel Owusu Saforo and Daniel Augustine Bimpong will be explaining why they do not deserve to be punished for their conduct.

Joynews’ Kwetey Nartey on July 8 intercepted a memo in which some accountants of the St. Dominic Hospital at Akwatia in the Eastern Region connived to dupe the state by backdating salaries of workers at the hospital.

Upon discovery, the four were interdicted and detained for questioning by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI).

The BNI later invited sixteen (16) of the newly recruited staff of the hospital to help it with investigations.

Sources say the four were released to management of the hospital to continue with investigations and find out how it will be able to retrieve the money from them.

The Tuesday meeting will enable management decide either retain or relieve the officers of their post.

Management of the Hospital has since notified the Controller and Accountant General’s Department about the issue.

Joynews can confirm that at least 36 of the staff had their employment details tampered with and backdated dating back to 2010.
