It has been revealed that the 15-year-old first-year student of the Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (Bechem Presec) in the Brong Ahafo Region suspected to have been defiled by seven students was unconscious for more than 24 hours after the act.
A report intercepted by Daily Guide, which was issued by the headmaster of the school. LX. Boakye Yiadom, said the girl (name withheld) was unconscious at the time some teachers, in the company of a police officer, rescued her at the guest house but only regained consciousness the next day at the Beehem District Hospital.
The student was allegedly defiled by seven of her fellow students on February 24 at a guest house/drinking bar during an inter-school zonal sports competition held at Techimantia near Bechem.
“It is worthy of note that the staff that took her to the hospital reported that they saw some semen-like fluid on the thighs of the unconscious girl who was later identified as a 1st year student,” the headmaster indicated.
The seven students (names withheld), between the ages of 18 and 20, were earlier arrested but later granted bail by the Bechem Police.
They are currently assisting the police in their investigations and are expected to appear in court for the first time later this week.
The boys are believed to have laced the girl's drink with an undisclosed drug that put her to sleep before they unleashed their libido on her one after the other.
The girl, who is back in school, has been directed by medical personnel at the Bechem Hospital to report back to the hospital next week to take HIV/AIDS and pregnancy tests.
According to the headmaster's report, when the victim was interrogated after regaining consciousness, she told the school authorities that she and some of her mates boarded a taxi from Bechem to witness the games at Techimantia.
It pointed out that the girl and her friends, on reaching the games grounds, decided to take some soft drinks at a drinking spot near the field.
The report said whilst they were there, some SHS 3 boys from their school came there and offered to buy her a drink and when she obliged, one of them went to the bar, bought a drink, opened the bottle and later brought it to her.
The headmaster's report further indicated that soon alter the victim took the drink; she started dozing off and almost fell from her chair.
It explained that all that the girl remembered was that water was being poured on her and she was taken to a room at the spot and only regained consciousness the next day.
“On the morning of Monday, 27th February, 2012, I made a report to the District Director of Education who directed that I should report the matter to the District Police Commander,” the headmaster said in his report.
