The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has revealed the new Black Stars head coach could be announced this January.
The role has been vacant since Otto Addo departed after Ghana exited the 2022 World Cup at the group phase in Qatar in December.
Asante Twum said the GFA is now assessing the reports of various committees from the Mundial before a decision would be made on who becomes the next Ghana coach.
“Ghana FA is now focusing on reports of the various committees of the Black Stars at the World Cup. Once that is done, the new technical team will be set up,” he told Asempa FM.
“I think it will be this month. From the conversations going on, it is very likely a new head coach of the Black Stars will be appointed this month.
“There will be an EXCO meeting soon and everything will be finalised there.”
He also disclosed that the GFA has received more than 60 applications for the Black Stars top job because the team is an attractive brand.
The GFA will be looking to set up a new Black Stars technical team ahead of Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations doubleheader qualifying games against Angola in March.
