Ghacem Limited has assisted the construction of BOPA College of Arts and Sciences located at Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region with 1,000 bags of cement.

The donation according to the foremost cement manufacturer, is in line with its Ghacem Cement Foundation (GFC), a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to provide free cement for educational and health infrastructure in deprived communities in Ghana.

The Foundation has for 14 years running donated about 420,000 bags of cement, valued at about GH¢13.4 million with over 4,263 communities across the country having benefitted.

Managing Director of Ghacem, Morten Gade, disclosed this at a short ceremony to hand over the cement bags to representatives of the Institution.

Rev. Dora-Otema Q. Ayesu, Executive Director and Mr. Solomon Asante, the Project Coordinator, received the donation on behalf of the school.

Mr. Gade emphasized that building a developing nation takes a trained, educated and healthy human resource as such the GCF would continue to give priority to education and health infrastructure in the country

He commended leadership of the institution for their commitment and strength to undertake such a project that will provide quality training for the under privilege young girls.

“This is an inspiration because it takes a lot of conviction and trust to make it happen”, he said.

Ghacem, he assured, will continue to identify viable projects in health and education and provide the needed support as such called on all to support the company’s quest to manufacture high quality cement to build the nation.

Receiving the donation, Rev. Ayesu Informed that the project began in the early 90's with the sole aim of complementing Government's effort of alleviating poverty and unemployment among the youth especially girls through vocational training in courses such as Textile decoration, Home economics and Clothing construction.

The multi-purpose school block which began eight years ago is expected to be partly completed by December 2016 to accommodate the school that has currently been ejected from its rental premises

Rev. Ayesu thanked Ghacem for the donation she described as a timely intervention to give part completion to the project for the Institution to continue with its activity of giving the girl child quality education.
