The newly reconstituted Board of Directors of Ghana Airports Company Limited has appointed Mr Charles Asare as Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited with effect from 24th September 2013.
Mr. Asare has over 25 years of Senior Management, banking and finance experience in Corporate Africa and USA. He currently works as a consultant specializing in project development, financial and management advisory assignments with private and public sector institutions.
He was the Chief Financial and Operating Officer for GPHA Inc of Philadelphia until 2007. He also served as the Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the National Pension Trust Fund of Ghana from 1998 to 2001.
He managed HSBC Equator Bank’s (subsidiary of the HSBC Bank Group) West African operations providing financial, advisory and fund management services, to companies and governments from 1994 to 1998. From 1990 to 1994, he was an Assistant General Manager at Ecobank Ghana Limited, responsible for business development in corporate banking and corporate finance.
Mr. Asare holds an MBA from Tuck Business School, Dartmouth College, USA and a BA (Economics) Degree from Haverford College, USA.
Mr. Asare currently serves as a director on the boards of CAL Bank Ltd, Ghana; CDH Investment Bank Limited, Malawi; Golden Beach Hotels Limited, Ghana; and General Trust Company Limited, Ghana. He has also served as a Board Director of Ghana International Bank, England; International Social Security Association (ISSA), Switzerland and the Ghana Stock Exchange.
He is married with two daughters.
