The Chief Operating Officer of the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah believes Ghana can be the second African country to host the FIFA world cup in 2030 after South Africa hosted it in 2010.According to him, hosting the world cup is a huge opportunity for any nation since it helps develop the economy.He told Joy Sports that, Ghana has not made the most of the opportunities football provides to improving the economy like other Nations.“Personally, I think we can look at the 2030 world cup which is the centenary world cup and pair with Nigeria, Ivory Coast or Cameroon to make it possible of staging the biggest football event”. Said Rex DanquahHe added that, focus on football business will build Ghana’s capacity to host the world cup in 2030.In a related development, the president of the Ghana football association Kwesi Nyantakyi believes football is a big industry which can boost the economy of the country.“Football is a big industry and if we carefully honours it I think we will reap greater benefits from it in future”.
