Ghana Securities Industry Association, an umbrella body promoting the country's financial market as part of activities to mark its annual week celebrations, has organized a fitness walk on the Aburi Mountains in the Akuapem South District of the Eastern Region.
The program under the Theme: The Safety and Security of Ghana's Financial Market, recorded over a hundred participants who went through various fitness activities.
Starting from Ayi Mensah, a community along the Accra - Aburi stretch the members, led by the association's president Mr Reginald France and his Executive Secretary Marian M. Dsane walked about five kilometers uphill and ended it with an intensive aerobics.
CEO of the Securities and Exchange Commission Rev. Daniel Ogbame Tetteh and a host of others, took part in the walk which saw also participants going through various health checks such as BP and weight management tips.
In an interview with Myjoyonline.com the president of the association Mr Reginald France said players in the capital market came together to introduce the annual week celebration a couple of years ago with the inclusion to create awareness on the capital market.
He said the association seized the opportunity to use the event as a platform to educate investors, students and traders through seminars.
Mr France noted that the theme for this year is very important for capital market players to understand how to enhance the capital market in Ghana.
People from the informal sectors are all covered by the capital market especially with the mutual funds, they can invest and grow their investments.
The Ghana securities industry is made up of all the stock exchange participants of formal markets being the fund managers, the brokers, the custodians and the Ghana stock exchange among others.
