Ghanaian youngster Silas Twumasi is in pole position to retain his American Junior Major League Soccer top scorer award after netting his 18th goal for South Bronx United in the league this season.
Twumasi, 16, has been on fire for the New York-based club throughout the season and with just three games to go in the league, he is optimistic of adding more to his tally.
“Last Season I won the top scorer with 19 goals and I want to surpass that this season and I am on course to do that,” Twumasi told Goal Ghana.
“Presently, I am leading the goal king chart with 18 goals and with three games to go I can score at least two or three more goals.”
Twumasi added: “We are also leading the league and on course to win it. We had wanted to win the double but we lost the State Cup finals to BW Gottschee.”
The Walton High School student, who is the hottest striker in the American Junior Major League Soccer, has already trained with the senior side of MLS giants New York Red Bulls.
He was born in Ghana but moved to New York whilst still an infant and has stated his desire to play for Ghana.
