Ghanaian sports journalist Gideon ‘Gatusso’ Okyere Anim was arrested and bundled into a hot, humid, smelly cell in Congo on arrival to report on Sunday’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Two other Black Stars supporters only known as Benedict and Owuraku suffered a similar fate when they arrived in Brazzaville on Friday.Armed with a letter from the Ghana Football Association the Asempa FM journalist was expecting a visa on arrival at the Maya-Maya airport.Like the other two Ghana fans they were expecting to be given visas on arrival as they were informed before departure from Accra.Without even examining the documents they had, the French speaking officials led the Ghanaians into a cell where some 50 other people were held without toilet facilities.“We were put in a cell that was already holding about 50 guys who had urinated in bottles in the cell and had not washed for several days,” Anim said.“They failed to even read the letters we had from Ghana pointing that we would be given visas on arrival. It was terrible.“We were suffocating. It was a hot, humid, smelly cell with graffiti and blood on the walls.“We felt really intimidated so we started banging on the doors loudly for hours before seniors officers came to release us,” he added.Ghanaians travelling to Brazzaville for the game must be warned that they will be asked to pay 20 Euros as visa fee. They will also pay money to take injections even if they have yellow card.Source: Ghanasoccernet
