The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, says the Akufo-Bawumia government has not been diligent with state resources.
According to him, the contract for the renovation of the Sunyani Airport was offered to the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s brother without proper competitive tendering.
Addressing the media at the latest Moment of Truth series, he stressed that for the renovation works, the Vice President's brother charged twice as much as it cost to establish a new airport.
“When one compares the cost of the mundane works that have been carried out at the Sunyani Airport by Bawumia’s brother’s company to the brand new ultra modern airports built by the nation builder John Dramani Mahama ... it becomes clear that indeed Ghanaians have been shortchanged by Alhaji Bawumia,” he said on August 7.

Sammy Gyamfi said the "overpriced contract" was awarded for Phase 1 of the rehabilitation of the Sunyani Airport at a cost of GH₵52.25 million.
This, he argued, was outrageous since it was offered through sole-sourcing.
The NDC communicator stressed that this was a contradiction to Dr Bawumia's vehement stance against sole-sourcing while he was in opposition.
