The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, says the President, Vice President, and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta should be the ones apologising to Ghanaians for the current economic crisis.
Speaking during his tour of the Volta Region on Wednesday, John Mahama said it is not the newly appointed Finance Minister, Mohammed Amin Adam whom Ghanaians expect an apology from.
Mr Mahama's comment was in response to a recent apology from Dr. Amin Adam regarding the hardships caused by the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP).
He argued that Dr. Amin Adam, having just assumed office, is not responsible for the economic challenges facing Ghanaians.
He said “They got him.. okay, you go and apologise. It is not his apology we want, he just came. Those who must apologise are number one – Nana Akufo-Addo – Jack Toronto, number two – head of the solid Economic Management Team, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the third supposed to apologise is their Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. It is those three people from whom Ghanaians are expecting an apology."
Mr Mahama also criticised the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), labelling their yet-to-be-launched manifesto as a "manifesto of lies" and accusing the party of repeatedly deceiving Ghanaians.
“On the 18th they will come and show that manifesto of lies with promises to Ghaianns. Like, I said we know them.”
