The Managing Director of GhanaMade, a leading company whose objective is to help propel and sustain Ghana’s economic development through the promotion and marketing of  made in Ghana products says the company’s decision to open a branch at Winneba was in fulfillment of the company’s quest to bring its products closer to customers.

Mrs. Comfort Aniagyei added that the opening of the outlet was in response to growing clamour for made in Ghana products by people from the Central region. “Winneba is serving as a launch pad for GhanaMade’s entry into the Central region of Ghana” she said.

Addressing a gathering at a ceremony to commission the Winneba branch of GhanaMade, tagged “Ghana – We Make Things”, Mrs. Aniagyei advised:

“We should not get discouraged when some presidential candidates in some faraway lands step on the dignity of a whole continent to question whether we make anything. For history students and lovers of history, facts abound about inventions that originated from the African continent. In present times, the illustriousness of our brothers and sisters are evidenced by all the high quality products available to us. I can assure you that your bosom would swell with pride when you step into any GhanaMade store. You would see and touch products cultivated from the land that our forefathers left us.”

Mrs Aniagyei made a point that consumption of made in Ghana products impacts directly on the industrial sector which itself serves as a major driver for economic growth and prosperity. She therefore appealed to all to continue patronizing made in Ghana products.

Continuing, she told her guests, that GhanaMade over the years had played and continue to play its part to help break the cycle of poverty through the promotion and marketing of made in Ghana products in all of its stores dotted around Greater Accra and Eastern regions as well as the newly opened Winneba branch’.

Speaking on behalf of President of Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mr Seth Koranteng noted, as the umbrella Association promoting the growth of industrial activity in Ghana, the AGI was very excited when GhanaMade stores burst onto the Ghanaian commercial scene. He added that the AGI has keenly followed the exploits of GhanaMade over the years as it sought to actively promote and market made in Ghana products and added that it has also followed GhanaMade company’s drive to conscientize Ghanaians on the need to help Ghana achieve economic independence by patronizing industrial output. “It is as a direct result of this that the AGI awarded GhanaMade a Certificate of Recognition during the 2013 AGI Awards night” he stated.

He took advantage of the occasion to reiterate AGI’s call on government to address the energy crisis that continues to impact very negatively on the fortunes of industries in Ghana.

 Mr Affail Monney, President of the Ghana Journalists Association, who was the Chairman for the occasion admonished Ghanaians; “… the more foreign products we continue to consume, the worse the fortunes of Ghana becomes”. He called on Ghanaians to therefore heed the call by the President of the Republic of Ghana, as well as GhanaMade Stores and other well-meaning Ghanaians who continue to call on them to patronize made in Ghana products.
