A 20-year-old student from Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in the Northern Region has been arrested for shooting a fellow student.
Joy News reports that Abubakari Abdul Majid was brought in by the school authorities, led by Senior House Master Moses Amegatse.
He has been detained and is currently assisting the police with the investigation.
The final-year student identified two other students, whose names are not readily available, as the owners of the gun.
Abubakari Majid claimed he took the gun from one of them and posed for pictures when it accidentally discharged, injuring 20-year-old Abdullah Abdul Somed.
Somed sustained gunshot wounds in the arm and is currently receiving medical attention at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he is responding well to treatment.
Two other students have also been questioned regarding the incident.
According to Joy News sources, school authorities are assisting the police in locating the other two students involved and efforts are underway to retrieve the gun.
