Government has announced it will build a new three-storey girls dormitory for the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua in the Eastern region.
Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frempong, assured the school of government's support after touring the fire accident site to acquaint herself with Thursday's fire.
According to her, procurement would soon begin for the construction of a new building for the female students on campus.

"President John Mahama told me to do all the technical assessment of the disaster and he is going to put up a new two or three-storey girls dormitory depending on the assessment report," said the Minister.
She presented some relief items including bags of rice, sugar, sanitary pads and beverages among others.
The girls dormitory of the School was razed down by fire Thursday evening when the students were at preps.
Almost all belongings of the female students were completely consumed by the fire leaving students stranded on campus.
The one storey girls dormitory accommodates over 600 female students of the school.

Students affected passed the night in classrooms while others put up with colleagues thus creating congestion.
When Joy News visited GHANASS on Friday, teaching and learning had stalled while students and parents count their losses.
School authorities as part of measures to tackle the situation announced the temporal closure of the school for students in form 1 and 2.

The headteacher of the School, Rev. Abraham Osei Donkor who announced the closure said the school would put in place short to long term measures to address the accommodation challenge facing the female students.
The Chief Fire Officer who accompanied the Regional Security Council to the school reiterated calls for institutions to implement fire safety audit report to avert the rampant outbreak of fire in the country.
