The Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, has appointed Professor Franklyn Achampong Manu as Rector of GIMPA with effect from August 1, 2012.
Professor Manu takes over from the current Rector, Professor Yaw Agyeman Badu, whose term of office ends on July 31, 2012, according to a statement issued by GIMPA and signed by Secretary of the Institute.
The decision to appoint Professor Franklyn Achampong Manu as Rector was taken at a meeting of the council held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Born on September 4, 1956, and a native of Kusa in the Adansi District of the Ashanti Region, Professor Manu attended Prempeh College from 1967 to 1972 and Mfantsipim School from 1972 to 1974 for the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Levels respectively.
He entered the University of Ghana in 1974 and graduated in 1977 with honours in B.Sc Administration. He obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and International Business from Graduate School of Business Administration (Stern), New York University. He was awarded a Ph.D degree in Marketing and International Business from the same Graduate School of Business Administration (Stern), New York University, in 1989.
Professor Manu has held various positions in academia including Dean of GIMPA Business School since 2005; Professor of Marketing and International Business and the Director of Ph.D Programme at Morgan State University, School of Business and Management, Maryland, USA; and Consultant to United Nations Centre for Transnational Corporations. He also taught at Loyola College in Maryland, USA.
He is currently Chairman of the MTN Foundation and also serves on the boards of Unilever Ghana Limited and Bedrock Venture Capital.
As an academician, Professor Franklyn Manu has published extensively in the areas of Marketing and International Business and attended many national and international conferences as a participant, facilitator or discussant.
