The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is to attract investment into the country's green economy to ensure that corporate entities adopt environmentally friendly practices in their activities. The move is to reduce emission of gases, which fuel climate change to ensure the sustainability of the business environment in the country. To this end, a delegation of the GIPC, led by the Principal Investment Officer, Mr David Laryea, is attending this year's annual Net Impact (NI) conference which opened on Friday at the Johnson School of Business, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. NI is a global network of leaders who are concerned about changing the world through environmentally sustainable business practice. Mr. Laryea was accompanied by members of the Ghana chapter of the NI. More than 2000 participants drawn from the academia, corporate organisations and donor agencies are attending the two-day conference on the theme: "Advancing Sustainable Global Enterprise, Change Makers, Innovators and Problem solvers." The conference will discuss significant developments in corporate social responsibility, environmental innovation as well as learn about the newest trends in the field of sustainability. It will be addressed by renowned speakers such as Mr Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and Chief Executive of General Electric, Mr John Brock, Chairman and Chief Executive of Coca Cola Enterprise including a host of Chief Executive Officers who were members of Fortune 500 Companies. Fortune 500 is an annual list of companies compiled and published by Fortune magazine that ranks the top US closely held and pubic corporations. Mr Dela Gadzanku, President of NI Ghana chapter who briefed the Ghana News Agency said the GIPC, was for the first time, attending the conference to make a case for massive investment into the country's green economy Mr Gadzanku said the GIPC believed that such an investment could improve the country's green business. He said the GIPC endorsed the NI Ghana chapter's campaign for corporate bodies to implement environmentally friendly projects to ensure sustainability of the environment. Source: GNA
