Glo Mobile on Wednesday introduced a new product dubbed “Glo Kappah’ to enable its subscribers in Ghana to make free calls to their friends, family and business associates in Nigeria.
Glo Kappah, also offers subscribers loads of credit for voice calls, sms and data usage in Ghana, plus subsidized tariffs for calls to other networks in Ghana.
The new product comes in two variants, Mini and Super, and gives subscribers unmatched international minutes for calls to Nigeria, and comes with special SIMs priced at GHC3 for the Mini package and GHC6 for the Super package.
The Mini package offers the customers 300 free minutes for Glo to Glo calls in Ghana, 50MB of data, 100 free SMS and 15 minutes to call any Glo number in Nigeria. The actual monetary value of the package is GHC43 but Glo is giving it away for only GHC3.
The Super package also offers customers 900 Glo to Glo voice minutes, 300 SMS and 150MB of data in Ghana, plus 45 minutes of call to any Glo number in Nigeria. It is valued at GHC129 but Glo is giving it away for GHC6.
Each of the packages last for 30 days, and it would be automatically reactivated at the end of the expiry date, provided the customer has enough credit.
Divisional Manager at Glo Ghana, Edmund Edusei explained that told journalists that to access the two offers, on would need to acquire the new SIM, which is available in Gloworld Shops, prepaid dealers shops and through special activation partners across the country.
“Upon purchase and activation of any of these two packages, subscribers are instantly credited with the requisite on-net bundle with a validity period of one month.
Edusei said subscribers could dial *750*3# for Mini value and *750*6# for Super value, adding that subscribers can also subscribe again after exhausting the package without having to wait till the end of the month.
“Additionally, subscribers of Glo Kappah get to enjoy calls at 5Gp per minute to five Family and Friends numbers, and also pay only 11Gp per minute for calls to other networks,” he said.
Glo Ghana Head of Business, Akeem Kazeem told journalists in Accra that the decision to give the offer was because Ghana and Nigeria are the biggest economies in West Africa and the huge business between the two countries give rise to equally huge communication traffic.
He said the product was conceived to serve the growing community of Ghanaians who have businesses, friends and families in Nigeria and Nigerians residents in Ghana.
Nigeria is one of the top five communication traffic corridors for Ghana. At least, four airlines operate between the two countries and practically hundreds of traders travel by road between the two countries on daily basis.
Besides, lots of Ghanaians have relations and friends in Nigeria, while Nigerians also have same in Ghana, and there are equally lots of students schooling in between the two countries.
Kazeem is confident the new Glo Kappah would facilitate communication, socialization and business between the peoples of the two countries.
“With this product, we are sure that Glo Mobile is going to contribute in no small measure in helping people build relationships and grow their businesses with less hassle and at a lower cost ”, he said.
But the package is available for any Glo customer interested in free Glo to Glo calls in Ghana.
