The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a correction after publishing the wrong photograph of a suspect in an ongoing gold smuggling case.
GoldBod admitted that although the details of suspect Mohammed Nandoli Rafeeq, also known as Salaam, released at an earlier press briefing on Tuesday were accurate, the accompanying photograph was incorrect.

"The picture published is rather Mr. Shamlal Ahamed, Managing Director, International Operations of Malabar Gold and Diamonds," a statement signed by Prince Kwame Minkah, Media Relations Officer, GoldBod read.
They expressed “deep regret” over the mistake and extended an apology to Mr. Ahamed and Malabar Gold and Diamonds.

The GoldBod has since released the actual photograph of Mohammed Nandoli Rafeeq, who is facing prosecution in connection with a gold smuggling case involving RAFMOH Gold Limited and NK Bernard Enterprise.

GoldBod urged all media outlets that carried the erroneous photograph to correct it immediately.
