The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority has directed all importers to subject their goods deemed highly dutiable to the Sector Commander and other Quasi Commanders for checks and validation.
A memo cited by Joy Business and signed by the Sector Commander, Christiana Odi Adjei, dated March 9, 2023 indicated that the move is a revenue measure aimed at improving efficiency to achieve the projected target.
Some of the goods include, Tomato Paste and Canned Tomato, Canned Sardines, Canned Pilchard, Steel and Steel Products, Alcoholic Beverages, Beer, Wines, Liquors or Spirits, Non-Alcoholic Beverages and all Paper and related products among others.
