The second edition of the unique live music experience took place at the Grace 2 Grace Center in Maryland, USA, on Sunday, 1st September 2024, treating hundreds of attendees from DC, Maryland and Virginia areas to an electrifying performance.
The Gathering, described as a storm of excitement and inspiration, lived beyond expectation as headline artiste RichieO performed some familiar Afro-themed praises songs, medleys, covers, as well as records from his incredible Christian Afrobeats catalogue including 4Life featuring Nigerian singer Lade, Jara, Daadaa featuring Omari Kissi Jnr. And Emmanuel Smith, the latter who thrilled the audience during the event.
Other guest artistes including UK-based Eugy Official, US-based Anike, Guyana-based Samuel Medas and Obenewa took turns to perform dozens of spiritually inspired songs. Patrons got a treat of several music genres, including Contemporary Gospel, Christian Rap and Reggae, leaving them wanting more.

RichieO who is confident that The Gathering has come to stay and hopes to take it to the next level in subsequent years, told Joy Entertainment that “the guest artistes brought their A-game, added their unique flavors through powerful performances, and the audience absolutely loved them”.
It is worth-mentioning that the event was interspersed with highly spiritual worship moments and altar calls that ensured a unified, wholesome and complete experience.

Sharing his overall impression and thoughts about the concert, he stated, “the event turned our beautifully”.
“There was an incredible connection between the audience and all the performers, which is always my hope for such events. It’s about creating an experience, and I feel like we did just that”, he elaborated.
The Gathering is set to take place once again in 2025, and patrons are urged to be on the lookout.

About RichieO
Richard Obiri Smith, better known as Richie O, was born on December 23rd in Maryland, USA. His formative years were spent moving between the UK, Ghana, and the USA, shaping his multicultural outlook. Richard’s father hails from the Eastern Region of Ghana, while his mother is American, giving him a rich cultural heritage.
From an early age, Richie O exhibited a deep passion for music. Although his constant relocations prevented him from learning to play an instrument, his involvement in church choirs filled that void. This zeal culminated in him becoming the Praise and Worship leader at Royal house Chapel Maryland Mission, where he also serves as a Pastor overseeing the Young Adults and Teens Ministry.
Richie O holds a degree in Business Administration and works in the Cybersecurity Industry as a Program Manager. Balancing his career with his ministry roles, Richie O has achieved notable progress in both areas, illustrating his ability to manage and excel in diverse fields.
In his leisure time, Richie O enjoys traveling, cooking, and serving in various church ministries. His life philosophy is deeply rooted in his faith: “God has given each of us a plot of land to take care of. He provides the sunlight, rain, and knowledge, but it’s up to us to do the work and produce the result.” This belief underscores his commitment to making the best of life through hard work and divine guidance.
Richie O admires servant leaders who empower others to realize their potential. He believes that the greatest recognition comes from others testifying how someone has added value to their lives. This principle drives his desire to do more in ministry, mentoring the upcoming generation, not just through preaching but also through impactful community programs.
A defining moment in Richie O’s musical journey was hearing his song on the radio for the first time. However, he finds greater fulfillment in knowing that his music ministers to others. As an AfroGospel artiste, Richie O has collaborated with renowned artistes such as Kuami Eugene, Ladé, Kofi Kinaata, and The Voice UK 2019 semi-finalist Emmanuel Smith, expanding his influence in the music industry.
He held his maiden live concert, The Gathering, in Maryland with guest artists Limoblaze and Emmanuel Smith gracing the stage in 2023.
