The Former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has said government’s inability to solve problems facing the country is due to “lack of leadership skills.”
Speaking on Adom FMs morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’, the former Communications Director said the hardship Ghanaians are currently facing has never happened before in the history of the Fourth Republic.
Nana Akomea who served as Minister of Tourism during the president Kufour’s administration conceded that even though there was some level of hardship during president Kufour’s tenure it was nothing compared to what is currently being experienced in the country.
He said this has been made evident through the Republic Day Occupy Flagstaff House demonstration which saw a large number of middle class income earners registering their displeasure about the current state of the economy.
He added that most people who own businesses are unable to pay their employees and run their businesses therefore had no choice but to register their displeasure through the demonstration.
On his views about why the currency was depreciating, Mr. Akomea said the high level of imports is the largest contributing factor.
“Government imports everything even flour for bread is imported into the country”.
He frowned upon government’s wasteful spending and advised that those who misuse the country’s money should be punished.
