Government says it is not withholding the December salaries for GBC workers.
Allegation have been rife about some agitations over salaries among workers of the state broadcaster but government says it is not to blame even if those allegations are true.
A statement issued from the Information Ministry and signed by the Minister, Hon. John Tia Akologu, stressed that “checks conducted indicated that there are no arrears either at the Controller General’s Department nor at the Finance Ministry.”
The statement, which appealed to GBC workers to stay calm, urged the Management of GBC to, as a matter of urgency, attend to the workers’ legitimate demands.
His deputy, James Agyenim Boateng told Joy News allegations of workers unrest may be due to misunderstanding between the staff and management, something which government cannot be blamed for.
He emphasised that government has honoured its obligations to the workers.
