Government has expressed gratitude to the citizenry for their assistance in activities for the funeral and burial rites of the former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan.
In a statement Thursday, the Information Minister Designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, government applauded the efforts of all Ghanaians as well as members of the international community throughout the three-day funeral rites held in honour of the global icon.
“In particular, we acknowledge the security agencies, protocol officers, traditional rulers, the media and members of the Ghanaian and international communities”, the statement said.
The statement also urged Ghanaians to uphold the values exhibited by the former UN Secretary General while he lived.
“It is our hope that the values exhibited by the Former UN Secretary General, which include excellence, humility and peace will become subjects of our attention in the aftermath of his passing.
The world woke up to the sad news of Mr Annan's passing on August 18. He was the seventh Secretary General of the United Nations.
His final funeral rite was held on September 13, in Accra after a solemn service which brought together leaders, diplomats, celebrities and other dignitaries from the world over who have come to pay their last respects.
