Dr Grace Bediako, Government Statistician, on Monday said that the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) has developed two strategic documents to facilitate statistics gathering.
She said this at a one-day Regional Workshop on “New Strategies For The Production of Statistics” for heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at Takoradi.
Dr Bediako said the documents, The National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) and the GSS Corporate Plan (CP) were developed in collaboration with data producing MDAs and with the support of her major development partners.
She said the NSDS is a sector wide strategy that seeks to bring on board all statistics producing MDAs and institutions under the NSS with GSS playing an effective coordinating role.
Dr Bediako said the GSS corporate plan outlines the products and services to be produced within the plan period from 2009 to 2013 and provides the administrative and management base for the implementation of both the NSDS and GSS Corporate Plan
She said the purpose of the workshop was to sensitize target participates of the two documents and enlist their support and cooperation for implementation.
