Guinness Ghana Breweries, producers of  Ghana’s finest local beer, the  Ruut Extra Premium Beer, has presented modern  farming equipment valued at Ghc70,00  to the Ministry of Agriculture to support the 2015 National Farmers Day which is slated for December 4, 2015 at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

The equipment included  Hammer mill for the National Best Cassava Farmer, 5 Tricycles to 5 regional Best Farmers, Fishing net and hooks to the Best Western regional Fisherman, 8 boxes of Farming tool kit to each of the awardees,10 cases of Ruut to each and branded polo shirts. Ruut is also sponsoring event with 50 cases of Ruut and 60 cases of Malta Guinness and Alvaro.

Presenting the items,  the acting Corporate Relations Director of GGBL, Rita Adjeiwaa Rockson, said the donation forms part of the company’s contribution to join government’s  effort to reward farmers.

She said the company has been sponsoring the program over the years and promised their continuous support for the program  in the coming years.

Ruut Extra Premium Beer, Ghana’s first Cassava beer was launched in December 2012 as part of GGBL’s agenda to drive the use of Local Raw materials in the manufacture of its products. "The Launch of Ruut Extra premium beer, opened up the opportunity to showcase GGBL’s commitment to impacting the communities within which we operate and to also demonstrate our participation in helping develop a sustainable supply chain in Ghana," she pointed out

"Ruut Extra, thanks to the use of about 71% LRM from Ghana’s soil has the opportunity to partner with the Ministry of Agriculture and to sponsor this year’s celebrations as an official beverage sponsor after a successful sponsorship in past editions of Farmers Day," she remarked.

On his part the deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture , Dr Alhassan Ahmed Yakubu commended the company for the support.

Established 31 years ago,  the National Farmers Day is commemorated each year on the first Friday of December to honour and celebrate  Farmers and Fishermen across the country. The event acknowledges the vital roles  farmers and fishers play in the Ghanaian economy .
