Ghanaian musician Gyakie has opened up about how she manages her mental health as far as her music journey is concerned.
According to her, life is a marathon where individuals are on the run to make a living or meaning out of it.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, she admonished young (new) and up and coming artistes to sometimes allow themselves feel hurt when they hit a blockage.
"I always use the word, marathon. I see this entire journey as a race because everyone is running and when you step on something that hurts you, you can allow yourself fall, lose or decide to continue till the finish line", she said on Hitz FM.
She futher urged them to view those blockages as little setbacks which could be overcome.
"When these things happen, I see them as little setbacks supposed to push you. Most of these things, if you are a religious person, you will view them as things set in place to prevent you from reaching the finish line but you ough to put them wrong,” she added.
Gyakie stressed on the need for such individuals to prioritize making their situations private, rathar than public.
"I'm human and whenever I'm hurt about something, I allow myself feel terrible, cry or go on a break and then I bounce back.
What helps me is that I always do it in my private, amongst the people I trust. I don't involve the public into things I don't want then to have opinion about,” she said.
The musician highlighted the need for self motivation in overcoming these set challenges.
"When you put yourself in a shell, talk to yourself in a mirror and try to get over that phase, you bounce back bigger and better. It always works,” she stated.
