“It’s midday good afternoon and welcome to the Founders’ Day edition of the news on Joy FM in Accra, the news can also be heard from all our affiliates across the country. The major headlines: Vice-president urges Ghanaians to emulate the life and vision of the country’s First President on the occasion of his 101st birthday,…, My name is Iddrisu Haruna.
This is how the Communications Minister introduced Joy 99.7FM’s Topsy Turvy Founders’ Day edition of the midday news. He was partnered by Joy FM’s own Anna Betsylee Agyepong.
Mr Iddrisu didn’t disappoint at all, presenting the news as though he had had weeks or even months of lessons on radio broadcasting.
It was a great spectacle watching the exceptionally articulate minister shuffling through papers and presenting the news eloquently. In fact his producers asked if he had done radio before to which he responded in the negative.
One could hear a producer shout, “honourable, you are editing” when Mr Iddrisu fills in where he has a difficulty reading what was on paper.
The Communications Minister’s presentation preceded an unlikely team comprising Deputy Information Minister, James Agyenim-Boateng, music icon and hiplife Grand Papa, Reggie Rockstone and Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby, politician and former CEO of the Ghana at 50 Secretariat who hosted the Super Morning Show.
Mr George Andah and Dr Sekou Nkrumah will be presenting the 4pm news and the Newsnight at 6pm respectively.
Play the attached audio and listen to Haruna Iddrisu presenting the news at midday.
