The Head of the Local Government Service, Dr Nana Ato Arthur has paid a working visit to the North Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region.
The visit was to commiserate with the staff and receive first-hand information on the assault on the management and staff of the Assembly by unknown assailants on Friday September 25, 2020.
The visit was also to afford the Head of Service opportunity to be briefed on the security situation within the Assembly.
Dr Arthur in his meeting with the leadership of the district, was given a detailed account of the incident.

The District Chief Executive, Richard Collins Afful said the unknown assailants besieged and raided the premises of the Assembly after they had assaulted two security men on duty.
He noted that they broke into some of the offices and made away with some property including computers and accessories, a vehicle and looted some official documents among others.
Addressing the management and staff of the Assembly, Dr. Arthur bemoaned the plight of the officers. He acknowledged efforts made by the Chief Executive and his management team to ensure work goes on unhindered and for peace and order to be maintained in the Assembly.

He then pledged that the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) will assist the Assembly with some desktop and laptop computers to enable the effective execution of work.
Also, he advised staff to be security conscious and to also be mindful of information disseminated in public places especially by strangers.

The meeting with staff also created the platform for the Head of Service to address other pressing issues of concern to the Service. They included lateness to work, professionalism and neutrality in the discharge of duties.
The Head of the Local Government Service was accompanied by the Chief Director, James Oppong-Mensah and the Director for Human Resource, Peter Asante.

Dr Arthur and his entourage after meeting the staff enagaged the joint Military-Police Taskforce that had been deployed to provide maximum security at the Assembly to discuss ways to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
