The Health Ministry has directed staff of the Ridge Hospital in Accra to cease ongoing protests against appointment of recently appointed Medical Director, Thomas Anaba.
Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, Tony Goodman, says the agitation against the new appointment would not be necessary anymore since a committee has started investigating concerns of the staff.
The staff have put red banners and posted notices at the facility, demanding the dismissal of Thomas Anaba.
They claim Dr Anaba is not qualified for the position.
However, a statement from the Health Ministry asked the staff to remove the protest materials and stop further media commentary on the issue.
Public Relations Officer at the Ministry told Joy News the notices at the facility could hinder healthcare delivery.
The staff petitioned the management of the hospital and the Ghana Health Service demanding that a probe be conducted into the selection of the new director, citing breach of procedure.
According to the staff the hospital is a very important and strategic, hence its management should not be left in the hands of inexperienced people.
Director General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Appiah Denkyira, has initiated a review of the appointment of Dr Anaba.
The Ridge Hospital, located in the Greater Accra Region, is a major regional hospital.
